How to backup and restore Outlook Express 5 and 6.
Mail Accounts, Message Folders and Address Book must all be copied separately.
If there are multiple Mail Accounts the procedure should be repeated for each Account.
An individual folder should be created to store each backup to avoid confusion when the backups are restored.
First of all, create a folder to store the backup for each Mail Account and name them accordingly.

How to backup a Mail Account
In Outlook Express on the Tools menu, click Accounts.
On the Mail tab, click the mail account that you want to copy, and then click Export.

In the Save In box, locate the appropriate Mail Account Backup folder and then click Save.
The file extension should be .iaf

How to backup Message Folders
In Outlook Express click Options on the Tools menu.
On the Maintenance tab, click the Store Folder button.

Press the TAB key to select the store folder path and then press CTRL + C to copy it to the clipboard.
Close Outlook Express.

Click Start and then click Run.
Press CTRL+V to paste the Store Folder path into the Open box.
Click OK.
The Store Folder will open
On the Edit menu, click Select All.
On the Edit menu, click Copy
Close the window.
Double-click the Mail Account Backup folder to open it.
On the Edit menu, click Paste.
Close the window.
How to backup the Address Book
In Outlook Express on the File menu, click Export, and then click Address Book.
Click Text File (Comma Separated Values), and then click Export.
Click Browse.
Locate the Mail Account Backup folder that you created.
In the File Name box, type Address Book Backup and then click Save
The file extension should remain .CSV
Click Next.
Click to select the check boxes for the fields that you want to export and then click Finish.
Click OK and then click Close.
Repeat these steps for each Mail Account.
How to Import a Mail Account
In Outlook Express on the Tools menu, click Accounts.
On the Mail tab, click Import.
In the Look In box, locate the Mail Account Backup folder.
Click the saved iaf file you want to import and then click Open
Click Close.
How to Import Message Folders
In Outlook Express on the File menu, point to Import, and then click Messages.
In the Select an e-mail program to import from box,
click Microsoft Outlook Express 5 or Microsoft Outlook Express 6 and then cllick Next.
Check Import mail from an OE5 store directory or Import mail from an OE6 store directory, and then click OK.
Click Browse, find and then click on the Mail Account Backup folder.
Click OK, and then click Next.
Click All folders , click Next and then click Finish.
How to Import the Address Book
In Outlook Express on the File menu, click Import
Click Other Address Book.
Click Text File (Comma Separated Values),
Click Import.

Click Browse.
Locate the Mail Account Backup folder.
Click the address book Backup.csv file.
Click Open.
Click Next, and then click Finish.
Click OK, and then click Close.
Repeat these steps for each Mail Account.
